David Esler - Trumpet

David Esler, TrumpetDavid hails from the picturesque sea-side community of Victoria, British Columbia. David studied medicine at the University of Victoria and now practises as an emergency ward doctor in a busy Vancouver hospital. From an early age, David has had a passion for playing jazz trumpet. Whether the tune is a languid, smoky ballad or a lively straight-ahead jazz standard, David has it all. David and his wife, Sharon, live in Vancouver with their two wonderful children and one very small dog (who has a VERY big ego).

Jim Wyse – Piano/Keyboards

Jim Wyse, Piano/KeyboardJim's interest in music and jazz began at a very early age in Toronto, where he was raised and educated in engineering and business. Initially Jim played trumpet in several big bands after his move to Vancouver in 1968. The permanent switch to piano occurred one rainy night in 1986 when the regular big band pianist failed to show up for the gig. Jim and his wife Midge now live in Oliver, a small town at the south end of the scenic Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. When there is no music to be made, Jim keeps busy with his winery business.

Bob Larratt – Bass

Bob Larratt, BassBob has played bass instruments as a professional musician for most of his life. Over the years Bob has played with many of the touring greats. On one occasion he was invited to play a number of shows for a circus band that had come to Calgary. The band leader was Herb Miller, the younger brother of the legendary Glenn Miller, and according to Bob, "one heck of a trumpet player!" Bob met his wife, Iris, through their mutual love of music. They now live in the beautiful resort town of Osoyoos in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia and continue to perform regularly - to the delight of local audiences.

Rand Simpson – Drums

Rand Simpson, DrumsRand was raised in Toronto, where he still resides with his lovely and charming wife Carole Anne. He began his drumming studies at a very early age. By the time Rand reached grade 8, he could perform outstanding, extended drum solos in the style of the great drummers of the day, emulating people like Louis Bellson and Buddy Rich. When his academic studies led him into the medical specialty of ophthalmology, Rand kept up his interest in jazz music. In spite of the demands of managing the only eye cancer treatment centre in Toronto, Rand still finds inspiration in providing rock-solid rhythm for several bands in that city.
